Hi!
I am the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher serving 8 of our schools in Stanly County. I serve four Elementary schools: Badin, East Albemarle, Millingport and Richfield. I also serve North Stanly Middle School and three High schools: North Stanly High, Albemarle High and Stanly STEM Early College.
My students are English Language Learners (ELLs). The goal of the ESL program is to promote students to obtain proficiency of the English language while they continue to learn in their regular content classes. Their level of English ranges from beginning to advanced so they receive sheltered content-based instruction in order to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening domains in English.
They accomplish this goal through collaboration between the ESL teacher and classroom teachers by providing them with differentiated instruction in inclusion classes, one-on-one instruction or pull-outs according to students' unique needs and learning styles during regular school schedule.
